As of 21 May 2025, the RED III (Renewable Energy Directive) has entered into force in all EU Member States. From this date onwards, the updated requirements of the directive apply within all listed EU certification systems.

Voluntary certification schemes such as SURE provide an objective and reliable way to demonstrate compliance with the RED III criteria in a credible manner.

The SURE system was established to offer economic operators in the biomass and biogas sector a practical tool to prove compliance with the RED III requirements in a transparent, verifiable, and legally secure way.

BEA is listed both as a certification body under the international SURE system and as an officially registered entity with the responsible Austrian authorities – Environment Agency Austria and the Federal Forest Office.
